GOBCAG investigates the consequences of the new volcano of La Palma

GOBCAG research group are studying the effects of the new volcano on the waters of La Palma. They are investigating its effects on the abundance and plankton biomass and the variations of the zooplankton community. Santiago Hernández León, head of the GOBCAG, and Laia Armengol, postdoctoral researcher of the ULPGC and member of the GOBCAG, are on board the ship Ramón Margalef, which left last Tuesday 21st the harbour of Vigo in response to the emergency call of the scientific committee of the PEVOLCA (the Canary emergency plan due to volcanic risk).
