The islands' beaches under threat

In the run-up to the congress "The Archipelago and the Ocean", Alonso Hernández, director of IOCAG and member of the organising committee of the congress warned that, if left unchecked, climate change could leave the islands without any beaches. He also indicated that the effects of climate change had led to a rise in acidity levels of the ocean and was responsible for the episodes of "micro algae" which occurred in 2017.
