Oceanic Monitoring System

The SIMO is an integrated monitoring system that will be implemented in a near future as a multi-sensor platform. It will hold an array of sensors to record physical and biological parameters in real time. At present, two main components have been co-funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) and the European Union (FEDER): An in situ submersible flow cytometer (Cytosub) and a submersible LADCP (Teledyne RD, Work Horse Monitor). Both systems will be integrated in a coastal buoy to monitor environmental changes, like the variability in surface currents and phytoplankton community composition.
